How to use MyTempFile
A complete guide to sharing files securely and temporarily.
Step-by-step Guide
1. Upload Your File
Drag and drop any file (up to 100MB) onto the upload area, or click to browse your device. All file types are supported.
2. Set Deletion Rules
"After first download" for single-use sharing, or set a time limit (1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days). Files are permanently removed when the rule triggers.
3. Add Security (Optional)
Protect with a password (bcrypt-hashed). After 5 wrong attempts the file locks for 15 minutes. Set a download limit (1–100) to auto-delete when reached.
4. Enable Notifications (Optional)
Enter your email to get a notification every time someone downloads your file, including their IP address and timestamp.
5. Enable QR Code (Optional)
Toggle "Enable QR" to auto-generate a short link and scannable QR code via o3c.us the moment the file is created. Great for print or in-person sharing.
6. Share the Link
You get a unique link like MyTempFile.com/d/abc123. Send it via email, text, Slack — however you like. Recipients do NOT need an account.

QR Codes & Short Links
Auto-generate short links + QR codes via o3c.us on both uploads and file request links. Perfect for printed materials or face-to-face sharing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do recipients need an account to download?
No. Download links are completely public. Anyone with the link (and password, if set) can download the file.
What happens when a file expires?
The file is permanently deleted from our servers. The download link will show an "expired" message. There is no way to recover it.
What’s the maximum file size?
100MB per file. This service is designed for quick, temporary sharing — not long-term storage.
Can I see who downloaded my file?
Yes. Visit the success page or go to My Files → Forensics to see download count, IP addresses, user agents, and timestamps.
What happens if someone guesses my file’s password wrong?
After 5 failed attempts, the file is locked for 15 minutes. This prevents brute-force attacks on your password.
Can I delete a file before it expires?
Yes! Go to your Dashboard and click the delete button on any active file. It’s removed from cloud storage immediately.
Is my file encrypted?
Files are stored in encrypted cloud storage with private access. Download links are temporary signed URLs that expire quickly.
What does ‘delete after first download’ mean?
The file will be permanently removed from our servers within seconds of the first successful download. The link becomes invalid immediately.
What is an Upload Request link?
It’s a link you can send to anyone. They upload a file through it, and it lands in your account with the rules you set (password, expiration, QR, etc). They don’t need an account.
How do QR codes work?
Enable the QR toggle when uploading or creating a request link. A short URL and scannable QR code are auto-generated via o3c.us. You can download the QR image from the success page.
How do I install the Outlook add-in?
In Outlook, open Get Add-ins → My Add-ins → Add a custom add-in → From URL, then paste https://mytempfile.com/outlook/manifest.xml. See the Outlook Add-in section above for step-by-step instructions for both desktop and web.
Does the Outlook add-in work on Mac, Windows, and the web?
Yes. It runs wherever modern Outlook runs — Windows desktop (Microsoft 365), Mac desktop, and Outlook on the Web. The New Outlook for Windows and the classic ribbon are both supported.
Does the Outlook add-in attach the file to the email?
No — and that's the point. It uploads your file to MyTempFile and inserts a secure, self-destructing link at your cursor. Your email stays small and your recipient can download from the link.
